About the Author: Rory Haymont was born outside San Francisco in the final year of the Baby Boom and moved with his family to Australia at the age of seven. He settled on the Gold Coast and immersed himself in the Australian bush before training as a Park Ranger. His career included work in forestry, trawling, lifeguarding, and as a wilderness guide across remote regions of Australia.

Haymont later built a distinguished career in environmental management in Western Australia’s goldfields. He negotiated a landmark Native Title Agreement, oversaw mine rehabilitation projects, and founded a consultancy that provided services to companies in ten countries.
